The Blue(s) Scarf

After the triumph of my lovely chocolate brown throw, I felt like knitting some more. I have lots of knitting needles, ranging in sizes from 4 up to 50, and I had a bag full of yarn that I had picked up for $1/skein at Big Lots maybe a couple of years ago. I started with my 1 circular needle (which I think is a 13), just for funsies because I was knitting flat, and cast on 20 stitches. I made a 5-row garter stitch border, and then for the rest of it, I knit the first and last 2 stitches of every row and did the middle in a stockinette. When I came close to the end of the first skeins of the blue I started with, which was a fun-fur type, I realized that since I only had 2 skeins of this, the scarf would probably be too short. So, my choices were either to frog it and start over with fewer stitches or to improvise. I went back to the bag and came up with the baby blue eyelash yarn. I also had 2 skeins of that. Because of the difference in gauge of the yarn, I held the eyelash yarn both strands together and worked until it was done; then joined on the last darker blue to finish. I started on Wednesday and didn't work as much as I might have liked, because I was doing other things, too (like working), and I finished last night. Here's my end result.

Here's a closer up picture of how the yarns look next to each other. I think it works pretty well.

As is the usual for these items, Ms. Thang was the recipient and wore it proudly for the rest of the night. Now it's hanging in her room with some of the other scarves she has (some I've made and some from other people), which she wears from time to time.
