Sneak Peek

I'll put up pictures and post a new blog when this is all done, but for right now, here's a sneak peek at the shell of the turtle I'm currently knitting from a pattern in World of Knitted Toys by Kath Dalmeny. The patterns in this book call for more realistic colorways for the animals, but I wanted a pastel turtle, hence the blue and purple shell (and also the pink underbelly and the minty green head, flippers, and tail which will be seen in the pictures of the finished project).

I started this on Sunday after I made the last of the hats I'll be making for a while (I've moved on). Sunday I did the purple square in the center of the shell and one of the blue ones. Monday was the big knitting day. I did the remaining blue shell pieces, the 4 purple triangles, the underbelly (which is pink), and the back flippers. Last night I did the front flippers, tail, and head. This morning I blocked and photographed the pieces, and tonight I'll put it together and stuff it.

This is my first venture into the land of toys, but not the last. There's this elephant I have my eye on . . . .
