Can you see what I saw?
Still a little hard to see, let's move in closer.
What's that now, lets move in even closer, shall we?
Yep, that's the cable needle in there, which I used to grab and hold a DROPPED STITCH so that I can unknit a few rows (probably 4 or 5) and fix it. If this wasn't the second attempt at knitting the back, I'd be slightly less upset.
You read that right, it's the second attempt. I was not this far along in the first one, in the low 30s for row count, when I stopped and took a close look and found a good 5 mistakes, including missing some very important decreases, which help to shape the back so that it gets narrower as it goes up from the bottom. Because one of the mistakes was in row 2, I didn't bother with the unknitting, I just cut the yarn, pulled it off the needles, and started over. This time, the mistake is well within the range for what some knitters calling "tink"ing (tink=knit just backwards).
I'm resigned to the fact that I'm not going to be able to wear this to the wedding I'm going to on Friday night, but it really is more important to have it done right than have it done fast. I also need to get the fronts and sleeves on the blocking boards so that when the back is done they can be off and I can get the back blocked. And then sew the seams, knit the hood, block the hood, and sew on all 20 flower petals, only 10 of which have been knit already and none of which are blocked yet.
Wow, I still have a lot of work to do on this. I should really go get to doing something along those lines now, being that it's my day off and I have the luxury of time today.

I love the beauty of the pattern. It's truly beautiful. But dude, I'd be looking into super glue or duct tape rather than ripping out rows at this point!! j/k My admiration for you went up with the stock market today!

TRAGEDY! Try a frustratingly unhelpful maxim - if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Mmmm, feel that judgmental Yankee wisdom wrapping itself around you?
