The 2-day sock

I had my gallbladder out last week (Thursday to be precise), so I've had some time to knit. Plus it's starting to feel like fall, so I think it's time for the summer blog hiatus to be over.

This is the sock that I started on Sunday after my visit with Lindsay. I finished it last night, which is pretty quick, even for me. I've done a sock in 1 day before, but generally it takes 3 or 4 days, so 2 is pushing it. That said, this sock has a stitch pattern, and when the sock has a stitch pattern, I tend to go faster.

I love this yarn, it's Schoppel Wolle Zauberball in the stonewash color. Because the color repeats are so long, the socks won't match, but I will love them anyway. The pattern is one I've made before, twice. It's a variation on Cookie A's Monkey. Worked from the toe up and leaving the purls out which creates quite a different fabric. This time, I started out with a 2.25 mm needle, moved up to a 2.5 mm after the ankle turn and finished with a 2.75 mm needle for the last pattern repeat and the ribbing to not cut off circulation at the calves. It's finished with a sewn bind off.

I worked for a few hours on Saturday to fulfill time period requirements, but today is the first full day back since my surgery. Still a tiny bit tender around the incision sites, but the only medication I need these days is Tums. The heartburn right now is pretty killer, and I've had to make some adjustments to my eating, i.e., I've had to slow down, take very small bites, chew my food until it dissolves, and I've cut my portions way back. Down 5 pounds in the 9 days since I first went to the emergency room, which is not my favorite way to lose weight, but right now I'll take it.

All for now since it's about time to try to work, but I'll be back Thursday with the triumphant return of Kitteh Blog!
