Thursday Kitteh Blog (04/01/2009)

EDIT: Yeah, I know it's Wednesday, but there won't be a Thursday kitteh blog this week because of the spaying. The name stays the same, though.

These are today's preoperative pictures of the girls.

Stash on her way to investigate the new things that have appeared in the kitchen. She's part monkey, that one, I swear any and all trips she takes involve climbing on at least one piece of furniture. Her latest trick is to climb to the top of the very tall bookcase in Amanda's room and then cry because she can't figure out how to get down. I'm waiting for the day when I walk into the kitchen and she pounces on me from the top of the fridge.

Meredith sniffing around the new things in the kitchen. Run, Meredith, run! Tragically for her she did not run and, in fact, sauntered into the larger carrier like she didn't have a care in the world. Then she was trapped. This one is definitely going to cost extra on the spaying end. She seemed to be OK this morning, but she was still in heat yesterday. She's the loud one, so the thought of her not yowling all night when she's looking for love is just wonderful to me.

Trapped! And looking to each other for advice on escape.

Although they could have both easily fit into the larger carrier, the vet's office wanted them in separate carriers, and they specified the plastic kind. The smaller carrier belongs to our friend, Eva, and the larger one is mom's. Me, I don't own one because I can usually find one to borrow when I need it.

They're at the vet's right now, possibly under anesthesia at this very minute. The trip in was actually OK. They didn't care for the carriers or the car ride much, but they weren't vocal about it. There was one plaintive little wail right before I got onto the freeway, but that's it.

The tech at the vet's office did confirm what I've suspected all along. My girls are tiny. Other than very likely getting fatter now that they're being spayed, they're probably not going to get much bigger. She referred to them as "petite." So unlike me.

You do know it's Wednesday, right? ;-)

Seriously, I hope your kittehs do well with their surgeries today. Thinking of them... and you.

Hooray, your broken cats will be fixed at last! I will have to take a gander at your girls sometime soon, they may actually be more petite than my wee Magpie.
