Quick look at the most recent project

Here's what I had on the needles last week before my Harmony DPN sock set arrived. It's a Purl Ridge Moebius scarf from Cat Bordhi's book, A Treasury of Magical Knitting. I made this with about 75 g of a yarn that I am 95% sure is Crystal Palace Silk Tweed (lost the ball band and I purchased the yarn about 5 years ago) which is a lovely 100% silk yarn. Beautiful colors, no give, and since discontinued.

As you can see in the next couple of pictures, what I've knitted here is a Moebius strip. It has only 1 side and 1 edge. In a stretchier yarn, it would be easier to wrap a scarf this length around Amanda's neck twice, but since, as I said, the yarn has no give, this one is mostly decorative. Even though this is a worsted weight yarn, the lack of give means when knit needle sizes you'd normally use for worsted, it's stiff and rather charmless. I did this on size 11 tips with a 47-inch circular cord. You can see that it drapes pretty nicely around Amanda's neck here.

And a little more spread out to show the twist.
Not bad for a couple of evenings in front of the TV while I was working on it. The cast on and the first half round are the hardest parts do to. After that, it was pretty mindless until I reached the end and decided to bind off using an applied I-cord. Another new technique, which makes 2 for this very quick project.

Next up, I'm back to socks on the DPNs.

Ohhh, that's what a moebius thingy is. Very pretty! I like that design a lot.

It's a very "Connie" color. I'm fighting with my sock and the ball of yarn it insists on returning to.
