A taste of what's to come

I've been in love with this since I first saw it on the blog, and a couple of weeks ago, having sold some yarn to another Ravelry member, I had some "mad money" in my Paypal account, and so I bought the pattern. Then Lindsay and I went up to the Madrona Fiber Arts Festival in Tacoma the weekend before last, and I found the right yarn. An absolutely enormous hank (1600 yards) of hand-dyed fingering weight merino/tencel blend. In this picture, the color looks pretty uniform, but in person there are definite, very subtle, gradations to the color.

Once I have the time to sit down and cast on the 262 stitches that are required to start the body of the sweater, I'll be able to start in earnest. But for now, I have my swatch, and the swatch is good.
