Friday Knitting Blog (04/20/2012)

These socks took way too long, but they're finally done.

 And another angle.

These are a very basic top-down sock. I used a 2.5 mm needle (US size 1.5) and they're 72 stitches for the foot and body. I did a Jo-Jo heel using German short rows and it ends up with grafting 16 pairs of stitches for the toes. I like the individual colors in this yarn, and I like the way the yarn feels physically and all (It's OnLine SuperSocke 100 in one of their "sports colors"), but I just don't like the stripe pattern. It's too chaotic at this gauge. At a different gauge or with a different stitch count, the stripes would have been totally different. But they will keep my feet warm, and that's the main function that they're for, so I'm happy.

This is yarn that I dyed on Monday. It's a sock blank from Knit Picks, and it totally did not turn out the way I wanted it to. It's a pretty enough color, but I'm thinking about how to add a little something to it; there may be some overdyeing in my future.

Next up, I have no idea, as far as knitting goes, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Sorry your stripey socks didn't turn out the way you wanted. I really like your sock blank! Maybe a little splash of blue or pink to spice it up?
