Well, it's another Friday, the sun is shining, and somewhere birds are singing. So it's time for this week's lists.
TTBM
1. Gas prices (duh). I think those bug everyone right now, but $4.33 a gallon (a very common price near where I live)? That's just mind boggling.
2. Whiny damn babies. And I don't mean infants or toddlers; I mean those adults who aren't happy unless they're bitching about how miserable they are. Get some therapy already! Or smoke a damn joint and calm down.
3. The sudden slowdown on the progress of my house being built. We've had a couple of delays with power getting hooked up and the like.
4. The fact that I have absolutely no idea when my actual move date is.
TTPM
1. Katy Perry's song, I Kissed a Girl. Excellent beat, awesome voice, quasi-naughty subject matter. What more could I want? It's pretty much perfect.
2. I got on the library list early enough that I got Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich the week it came out. I read it last night, and loved it. Damn funny, and since I'm a fan of Morelli, it was generally pleasing to me.
3. Today's weather. Although I'm not always quite sure if I should worship the ball of fire in the sky or hide from it; right now, it's lovely outside. The mountain will probably be out today, and I don't think I'll ever live here long enough to take that for granted.
4. The name change has been completed most places that I need to change it at. There are still a couple of store cards (like grocery store discount cards), but I'm hitting those as I shop.
5. My plans for decorating and organizing the new house. I have big plans for one closet in particular (and it's not even the walk-in closet in my bedroom).
This is what the mountain (Mount Rainier) looks like when its out. I live southwest of it, and to me, when I travel further north, it doesn't look right. From down here, we can see the scoop at the top; you don't see that face from further north. This is downtown Olympia and the mountain taken in August 2005; when I see the mountain today, it will be snowier, but otherwise it's just like the picture.
That means it's time for TTBM and TTPM
Things That Bug Me today
1. The fact that I have not worked out all week. Makes me feel lazy, but my shoulder mostly feels better. I should have at least walked, though.
2. The current weather. Ani, I'm stealing your joke here. What do Cher and the PNW have in common? . . . . Neither one has been fucking Sonny lately!
3. The word panties. I didn't grow up referring to my underwear as panties, and I don't know where the trend came from; it disturbs me. Ms. Thang refers to them as chonies (something she picked up at Job Corps), and I kind of like that, though. Man, I need some new chonies.
Things That Please Me today
1. That Boy is graduating high school in 6 days! (Same day I get my maiden name back).
2. I still have all the post-strike episodes of Grey's Anatomy on my DVR for my anytime viewing pleasure.
3. Ms. Thang and I will be watching some more episodes from the second season of Bones over the weekend.
4. Tomorrow's payday!
Hmm, what's on my mind today
TTBM
1. The fact that I've yet to find any really juicy spoilers for the SATC movie. I only want to see it if it ends the way I want it to. If it doesn't, then I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist.
2. Scorched milk. This morning, I went to boil milk for my oatmeal and turned the burner on high instead of the low side of medium. Boil over, huge mess, scorched milk on the bottom of the pan. It took me 10 minutes to clean out the pan, and I'm still hungry.
3. Questions on the ADWOFF Friday Five that I feel are insulting (not just insulting to me, either, but to other members). I'm not going to be specific, but it happens pretty regularly. (I miss BoraBora and her questions).
4. The fact that I strained my shoulder moving the stupid coffee table so I could work out, and now I can't work out because of my shoulder strain. Stupid, stupid, stupid coffee table.
5. The fact that my CMT exam scheduled for June 16 is going to have to be rescheduled, but I won't get a new date for it until next week.
Now for the TTPM
1. Everyone who lives in my house is gainfully employed on a full-time basis. Whee!
2. The company I work for was recognized within our industry as employer of the year again (same honor in 2006 and 2008). It's nice to work for the best.
3. That I escaped a company I refer to as the Borg to go to where I am now, and the Borg was just sold/merged. So glad I'm not there anymore.
4. That in 13 days I'll have my maiden name back. Trust me, though, 2 weeks from now, going through the pain of new driver's license, social security card, etc. is going to be up in TTBM. All for a good cause though.
5. Scrabulous on Facebook. I love playing Scrabulous!
6. That this blog and my MySpace blog do not always match.
Well, it's Friday, so it's time for TTBM, but this week I'm also going for balance, so I'm adding TTPM (Things that Please Me).
TTBM
1. The words "ugh" and "grr" in blogs and posts. Do you say those words out loud in real life? If so, then carry on typing them; if not, stop it. Stop it now.
2. People who call me "easily amused," as if it were an insult. The fact that I'm easily amused explains why I dated your stupid ass, doesn't it? Beside which, Kurt Cobain (RIP) wished he was like me; easily amused.
3. Grinding the last of the coffee beans the day before payday knowing that on payday morning I will have to leave the house without having had coffee in order to go get coffee. NTS, plan better in the future.
4. People who drive below the speed limit when I'm trying to get to the coffee. Don't they know that I'm in a hurry to get to the caffeine?
5. The vacuous c****s who wrote Skinny Bitch. I only read 15 pages, and I hate them and everything they stand for. I bet they'd be guilty of #2, and they're probably really boring at parties, too.
Now on to the good stuff: TTPM
1. My dual-tuner DVR. Man, I love the DVR. There are no words. Much like caller ID, cell phones, and email, I have no idea how I lived without it before it existed.
2. Pulling into my favorite local (non-Starbucks) latte stand and seeing the special for today is a Snickerdoodle latte (I love those), and then finding out that the barista can make it sugar free for me. Coffee crisis over!
3. My Safeway club card that gives me a 10 cents a gallon discount on gas every time I spend $50. My gas at Safeway this morning was 16 cents a gallon less than at the Shell station (and I still paid $3.83).
4. Did I mention sugar-free Snickerdoodle latte?
5. Being in the car and listening to the radio and hearing the familiar strains of my favorite Rolling Stones song ever (Gimme Shelter) and calculating that, if I hit 1 more red light, the song will finish just about the time I get home. I love not having to sit in the car to finish listening to a good song.
6. Cranking the volume on Gimme Shelter because I'm in the car alone, with coffee, wearing my Ray-Bans, and with a full tank of gas.
Well, Annie said that I should make a weekly blog out of TTBM, so I'm going to give it a shot.
TTBM today:
~ Oprah's taste in books for her "book club." Most of them just suck.
~ People who go to an excercise thread in a message board dedicated to weight loss and say how much they hate to exercise.
~ On a similar note, people who say they "hate to sweat." Dude, if you don't sweat, you're very, very sick and might die from it. Sweating is an important process; actually a biological imperitive.
~ Any mention of the Christian savior on a message board (in a post or signature line) that's not specifically aimed a specific faith group. There's a reason I stay away from most web sites that are specifically religious and that's that I don't give a rat's ass about your relationship with your savior.
~ The fact that I got a new camera, and quite a few of the pictures I'm taking, particularly of my house in progress, are coming out blurry. I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong and stop it.
