Really, it's not. Yesterday I reconnected with an old friend. Well, neither of us is terribly old (and never will be, dammit), but a friend from way back in the day. As in the first half of the 1980s and Air Force basic training. I tend to wax nostalgic for those days sometimes; it really was like being part of a big loud family. As opposed to my actual small, but still loud, family. Reconnecting with TS has even made me think about the guy I was with between husbands. For years, I've referred to him as Transition Boy. Pity really that he was the transitional guy, because he was great. Literally treated me better than any man I've been with before or since. And man did I screw him over. TB , I know there's not a chance in hell that you'll ever see this, but I hope the Universe finds you well and is treating you right. You most assuredly deserve better than you got from me. And that's a position that's truly unique. I believe that I can honestly say that every other man deserved far worse than he got from me, and I deserved better than I got from them.
Water under the bridge . . . spilled milk.... bygones. Best not to dwell, I suppose.
Since January, I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet of every book I've read this year, the day I start, the day I finish (or the fact that I didn't finish), title, author, a yes/no recommendation, and whether or not it was a new to me book or a reread. I just made entry 235 which means that I'm averaging about 65% of a book a day. Some days I've read 2 or 3 books and others I haven't read anything that wasn't on the internet or work-related. This is the first year I've kept this kind of record. I always knew I read a lot, but even I'm impressed with this number.
So brings us to a new blog tally. Instead of one nice thing about me today, because lets face it, I'm a bitch, and many days it's a bit of a reach to find that something, I'll just say what I'm reading.
What I'm reading today: Black Rose by my favorite author Nora Roberts. This is a re-read for me as it's the second book in her In the Garden Trilogy. The final book of the trilogy, Red Lily, was released last week, and I'll read that next, but I needed a quick refresher of the events of the last book before digging in.
